Meet Our Team
Debbie-Ann Gohrt, Founder
Passionate about children’s development and well-being, Kreative Kidz founder Debbie-Ann Gohrt has a background in child psychology from McGill University, as well as training in early childhood education. She opened her first daycare in 2001 with the goal of creating an environment where every child can learn, explore, and grow at their own pace.
Over the years, her vision has helped shape Kreative Kidz into a preschool academy where play, discovery, and exploration are at the heart of children’s learning and development.
Alyssa Flynn, Director
Working in early childhood education since 2011, Alyssa Flynn joined the Kreative Kidz team in 2016 before becoming Director in 2021. Her background includes training in early childhood education and a diploma in autism intervention, which she obtained in 2020.
With her experience and diverse background, Alyssa now plays an important role in bringing our daycare’s educational mission to life and providing children with a caring, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
Cara Sams, Assistant Director and Head Educator/Coordinator
I have been working in early childhood education for over 13 years and have had the opportunity to work as both an educator and an assistant director. I’m also a mom of two children, both of whom attended Kreative Kidz and are now in school.
You’ll often see me throughout the daycare, helping out wherever I’m needed—from morning drop-offs to end-of-day pick-ups and everything in between! I love being present, available, and actively involved in the day-to-day life of the daycare.

Our Educational Approach
HighScope : Children Learn by Being Active
The HighScope approach is primarily based on active, participatory learning. Rather than simply taking part in an activity designed entirely by an adult, children are encouraged to explore, experiment, make choices, communicate their ideas, and solve problems. At Kreative Kidz, our educators support this process and help each child take their learning a little further.
Montessori : Independence, Environment, and Hands-On Learning
The Montessori method places particular importance on a prepared environment, hands-on learning materials, and giving children the opportunity to complete activities independently. In the Montessori approach, the adult acts primarily as a guide and observer. The environment is therefore organized so that children can access materials on their own, make choices, and gradually develop their independence.
